Create An Identity That Sets Your Success On Cruise Control! Self Image. Most people do not know how important this is to them. There is no owners manual for our brains. We are not presented with instructions and guidelines when we are born. We have our parents experiences of life, and what they have learned from them, to guide us on our life path. And, we have our own life experiences to teach us what works and what doesn't.
Some do not even have two parents available to them, because of fragmentation of the family in today's society. Some of us grow up with one or no parents to guide us. Our peer group becomes an important and significant influence on how we progress and we hope that we make good choices in this area.
When there is no plan or rule book, usually we learn from life, the school of hard knocks as they say. But who determines what we learn from any one experience, how do we know that we are taking the right lesson from the situation. Who is there to make sure that we are making the right decisions? And are we checking with them?
We see every day that any two people can learn and take away different meanings from the same occurance. So there are meanings we accept as truth that really have no basis in fact, just that we believe it to be that way. Many of us carry around burdens that exert tremendous pressure and weight upon our daily actions.
The first 20 years of life can be quite disconcerting for many, they were for me. The lessons we take during this period will many times stick with us the rest of our lives. And, many of these are negative in nature. What can we do, if anything, to correct these early mistaken judgements about ourselves?
Overcome them with positive thought? Crowd them out by focusing on what's good about our life? Evaluating them to see if they are based in fact, or just our imagination in overdrive? There are solutions to many of these situations. And . . .
Some of these problems can only be treated by professionals. That is not what I am professing to be here, this is for educational purposes only. If you have depression or some type of clinical problem, I recommend that you see your health provider and make sure that there is no physical reason or deep mental reason for your pain, at which time, they only should be involved.
As Tony Robbins and many others now believe, in many cases we can build our self image from our future actions and intentions, and not just be saddled with an unchangeable past history of personal assumptions.
For those people that can help themselves, then this is an exercise that helped me many years ago when I needed to have something positive in myself to believe in. I still have a long way to go and many of the traits I still have yet to install into my life, but I work at it, and I make progress daily, trying to live up to my self image description, and I feel much better about myself than I once did.
What I love about this though is that I am a much happier person now, my self image, my self esteem has grown by leaps and bounds, and behaving in this new way has made my journey towards successful living more fun. I happily achieve instead of achieve to be happy.
I feel more powerful and positive whenever I attempt some new thing that I have never done before. I look differently at each opportunity I am presented with, and attack them with gusto, with confidence, instead of indecision and doubt. I heartily urge you to make a list of personality, character traits, habits you want to create, and start working on living them. Internalize these new traits and practice them daily. Act as if you already are that person, and soon you will be doing less acting and realize that you are that person!
From Tony Robbins: 'See' yourself as being MORE! And make it that way!

Expanded Identity & Aspirations
I am an action person. I create and mold my life as I desire. I am an adventurous, passionate, social, public type of individual who makes and keeps commitments. I am a happy, loving, giving person, caring for others, and provide abundance for my family and those in need. I have an abundance of health, energy, love, and finances that I enjoy and that I share.
I am a Do it now, Make it happen, Can do kind of person, and once I make a decision, I follow thru. I set and attain goals that I desire within my purpose. When I commit to something - I can be counted on, no matter what. I am happiest when I schedule myself with enough activities that I jump out of bed in the morning and am active well into the evening and my life makes me want to stay up until I am satisfied that I have done all I could do every day. I anticipate another awesome day filled with life changing growth and experiences!
Health, Energy and Love are my highest priorities because everything I do, I share, and I have, flows from them. I love my God, my Creator, and everything that stems from my life, I give the glory to God. I pray each day as if it is all up to him, and I work each day as if it is all up to me. I find this to be a perfect combination for action and results. I affect people in a positive way by my example, and I help them help themselves.
I nourish my body and my mind with health-giving elements and will not stand for toxic, negative producing people or environments around me. I surround myself with positive, caring, loving, charitable, purposeful people that I can learn from and use the laws of association to my benefit. I choose how to feel, how to believe and how to act, and I manage these constantly. I sleep and rejuvenate as necessary to keep my mental and physical performance at maximum and optimal levels.
I am empowered to achieve whatever I set myself to, by having faith, believing in my cause, and knowing that I am following my plan and purpose, no matter how it looks or appears to be on the outside. I focus on and quantify my goals so that I may more easily measure my progress towards them. I break them down with my 5 step plan into small workable actions, which become automatic and guide me towards their achievement. I calmly, plan, prepare, organize, execute, follow up, and then adjust as necessary to continue.
I dismiss the attempts of people who would sway me from my chosen path, because I see my future how it could be, and how it must be. I know that they too are on their own path and they are doing the best they can with the resources they have, and I love them for that. I welcome the opportunity to share our viewpoints and therefore enrich both of us. I do not fear that they might see it differently, and there is always something that I can learn from them.
I have made friends with the unknown and I allow my many talented, always perfect, subconscious self to deal accurately with any situation that may arise. I am happy with myself. I love who I am. And I am fulfilled inside, where it counts.
