Success Habits – Developing Will Power And Self Discipline

Developing Will Power and Self Discipline
by Remez Sasson

Most people admire and respect strong individuals, who have won great success by manifesting will power and self discipline.

They admire people, who with sheer will power, self discipline and ambition, have improved their life, learned new skills, overcame difficulties and hardships, reduced their weight, rose high in their chosen field or advanced on the spiritual path.

The truth is that everyone can reach high levels of will power and self-discipline through a practical method of training. These inner power are not reserved for a few special people.

Will power and self discipline are two of the most important and useful inner powers in everyone’s life, and have always been considered as essential tools for success in all areas of life. They can be learned and developed like any other skill, yet, in spite of this, only few take any steps to develop and strengthen them in a systematic way.

What is will power?
It is the inner strength to make a decision, take action, and handle and execute any aim or task until it is accomplished, regardless of inner and outer resistance, discomfort or difficulties.

It bestows the ability to overcomes laziness, temptations and negative habits, and to carry out actions, even if they require effort, are unpleasant and tedious or are contrary to one’s habits.

What is self discipline?
It is the rejection of instant gratification in favor of something better. It is the giving up of instant pleasure and satisfaction for a higher and better goal.

It manifests as the ability to stick to actions, thoughts and behavior, which lead to improvement and success. Self-discipline is self-control, and it manifests in spiritual, mental, emotional and physical discipline.

The purpose of self-discipline is not living a limiting or a restrictive lifestyle. It does not mean being narrow minded or living like a fakir. It is one of the pillars of success and power. It bestows the inner strength to focus all your energy on your goal, and persevere until it is accomplished.

Both of these abilities are required for daily actions and decisions, and also for making major decisions and attaining major success.

They are required for doing a good job, for studying, building a business, losing weight, bodybuilding and physical exercises, maintaining good relationships, changing habits, self improvement, meditation, spiritual growth, keeping and carrying out promises and for almost everything else.

One of the most simple and effective methods to develop will power and self-discipline is by refusing to satisfy unimportant and unnecessary desires.

Everyone is constantly confronted and tempted by an endless stream of desires and temptations, many of which are not really important or desirable. By learning to refuse to satisfy every one of them, you get stronger.

Refusing and rejecting useless, harmful or unnecessary desires and actions, and intentionally acting contrary to your habits, sharpen and strengthen your inner strength.

By constant practice your inner power grows, just like exercising your muscles at a gym increases your physical strength. In both cases, when you need inner power or physical strength, they are available at your disposal.

Here are a few exercises:
- Don’t read the newspaper for a day or two.
- Drink water when thirsty, in spite of your desire to have a soft drink.
- Walk up and down the stairs, instead of taking the lift.
- Get down from the bus one station before or after your destination, and walk the rest of the way.
- For one week, go to sleep one hour earlier than usual.
- If you like ice cream, don’t have any, for a day or two.

These are only a few examples to show how you can develop your will power and self-discipline. You may think that practicing such exercises is being tough on yourself, maybe a little, but they add so much to the storehouse of your inner strength.

By following a systematic method of training you can reach far, have more control over yourself and your life, attain your goals, improve your life, and gain satisfaction and peace of mind.

Show and prove to yourself that you are strong and in control, and practice the above exercises for a little while, before passing any judgement on them.

Self Motivation – Ways To Get Motivated, Stay Motivated And Create Big Momentum

Ways To Get Motivated And Stay Motivated Until Your Reach Your Goals

The most important key to a successful goal setting program is your ability to motivate yourself on demand and stay motivated until you have achieved all your goals. Successful people know how to choose and develop specific goals that will drive them daily. They love doing it.

Successful goal setters constantly think about their big, exciting goals and visualize them so vividly that they internalize a burning, all encompassing desire to attain them. They become so motivated that they basically cannot do without their goals.

Napoleon Hill talks about Visualization And The Magnificent Obsession in great detail in his flagship book, Think And Grow Rich. (You can download the FREE ebook from The Realgoalgetter website.) The link can be found at the end of this article.

Your Magnificent Obsession is a positive obsession that is created and developed by you so that high achievement becomes mere child’s play. Creative Visualization is heralded by just about every big name self improvement expert as a top goal getting strategy.

Here are four top strategies to motivate yourself and stay motivated to achieve every one of your goals. Take these actions and you will become totally unstoppable! You will build incredible forward momentum towards your goals.

1. Set specific goals and visualize them vividly every day. Start every morning by imagining already having them and feel the feelings you are going to experience when you finally achieve the goal. Visualize the strategies you use every step of the way, and how you successfully negotiate any potential challenges that day. See yourself hitting every milestone you set, every time. Commit to absolutely achieving them.

2. Set a target for the amount of work you will do each day toward your goals, and the approximate time it will take. Then block that time into your schedule first before anything else. Assign a high priority to each task that you must finish in order to accomplish your goal. Make a conscious effort to do better than you have ever done in the past. Train yourself to complete each task. Persist and refuse to quit until you are done.

3. Create affirmations to remind yourself of how capable you are at reaching your goal. Ask yourself empowering questions that compel you to take action immediately. Watch movies that motivate you. Listen to music that motivates you. Define your own version of success. Don’t let others define success for you. Ignore any people’s negative influences or responses to your efforts and focus on your positive achievements.

4. Mentorship – Get help and support from people around you or from professionals, for example a senior business partner, a life coach, a personal health trainer, or a finance manager etc. Associate and make friends with positive people who have similar interests. Make every attempt to cultivate relationships with people who can further your goals and passions. Share and celebrate your successes with them as this will help keep you focused.

Now . . . that’s a pretty good start. Consistent daily efforts toward your goals will create the momentum you need to stay motivated during those times when others usually quit. You will not quit. You will re-commit. Right? As always  . . . Go For Your Big Goals, You Can Do It!

Attitude – 9 More Ways To Help You Stay Positive

9 Positive Attitude Tips

Guest Author Fern Kuhn – It is rather simple to separate the positive from the negative. However, it can be quite difficult to stop yourself from running to the negative.

This is simple human nature. It is something we are programmed to do. Do not feel bad about this natural inclination. Instead, choose to do something about it.

Here are some tips for adding some positive influence to your life:

1. Find a happy place. Create a place in your mind that is your ideal paradise. When you feel stressed or down just go to your happy place, relax there and enjoy it.

2. Get a hobby. Doing something you enjoy and that will raise your spirits and allow you to maintain a positive attitude.

3. Exercise. While many people look at exercise in a negative way, it really can bring positive influences to your life. The body’s reaction to exercise is a good one. You will feel better and therefore act better if you adopt an exercise routine.

4. Find affirmations. Affirmations are sayings, verses or other short pieces that have a positive influence. Affirmations can be a quote, a verse from the Bible or even a line from a greeting card.

They are simply something that make you think positive or even just bring a smile to your face. Using an affirmation daily can perk up your attitude in an instant.

5. Exploring new things. Instead of walking away from the unknown, walk towards it.

6. Do not walk away from a challenge. Let yourself accept challenges and try creative ways to deal with them.

7. Make a mess. Make messes to learn. Do not get caught up in caring about the mess. Happiness can be messy and unrestricted.

8. Ignore the rules. You can end up having a fun time simply because you are doing something you were specifically told not to do. Defying authority can be an adrenaline rush. Break a few rules now and then.

9. Pretend. The imagination is a wonderful thing. Allow yourself to go to some make believe place. Get away for your normal life and pretend you are someone else. Have fun and you are sure to smile. You can take these tips and build upon them.

You can surely come up with things that have a way of making you happy. You know what makes you smile, so take that and run with it. Allow whatever it is that makes you happy to guide you to your new positive attitude.

Goal Setting Benefits – Set Big Life Goals

Goal Setting has always been an important skill for me to have and I believe in it entirely. Goal Setting is a technique that can be very powerful and can result in some great returns in all areas of your personal and professional life.

Goals can exponentially increase your productivity inside the time frames you have available. However, you must be very specific and avoid generalities in your goal setting strategies. Choose wisely.

At a very simple level, goal setting lets you determine where it is that you want to go in life, and how you will live your life. It is a map, a nice set of plans to guide you through your life’s journey.

On a more complex level, goal setting can be a vision that is long term and comes with the motivation to change your entire life. This is where life can be so exciting! Imagine being your own creator, determining that your life has no boundaries except those that you set. What a feeling!

When you know what it is that you want to achieve, you can set goals and focus on taking the steps to make them a reality.

Even at those times when you can’t seem to see through to that long term goal, just concentrating on the task at hand may bring new desires.

You will uncover new information that will help you to decide you want new, bigger goals that you wouldn’t have, couldn’t have thought of the day before.

When you set goals that are clearly defined you’ll be able to measure them and feel proud as you achieve each one. It’s the journey that is important.

And going after big goals creates an excitement that many cannot feel with ordinary day to day living. Don’t settle for less than you can be. And, you can be a lot!

Forward progress for small goals is crucial so that you can find motivation for your bigger goals. Hitting the goal posts along the way allow you to score successes, feel accomplishments, and tremendous excitement daily.

Some of the very important non-material things that you will accomplish in your life when you set goals include:

• A massive increase in your self improvement level.
• A huge increase in satisfaction for what you accomplish.
• A feeling of pride for achieving personal and professional goals.
• An improvement in your self-confidence, and self esteem.
• Fewer attitudes that are holding you back from being happy.

Studies show that when people effectively set goals they suffer less from anxiety and stress. Activity decreases them.

Following a plan of action and accomplishment of that plan leaves no room for anxiety, stress, or depression. And an increase in self-confidence and self esteem, can help you to concentrate more fully on enjoying both your personal and professional life.

Not to mention that you successfully achieved what you went after . . . (GRINS).

Positive Attitude Quotation To Ponder

“The Universe is full of magical things, just waiting for our wits to grow sharper.” — Eden Philpotts

The above quote is one of my favorites. As time goes by I continue to see the once impossible become probable, and then finally possible. Don’t you see this also?

Then, how many undiscovered talents lay within us just waiting for us to discover them?

Because we don’t know what we don’t know, (and how could we?), many of our yet undiscovered talents lay dormant waiting for us to realize their existence.

Just as in life, inventions and theories lay dormant waiting for us to improve our knowledge base to the point where they become self evident and obvious.

So, what great things are we going to do that we don’t even know about yet? What great hidden talents are within us that we are not yet aware of?

We are living miracles with many yet unknown and unlimited powers. We need to keep reminding ourself of that when we need a boost and that more information is bound to come with every passing day that will illuminate just powerful we are!

I have this quotation over my desk at home. It helps me when I feel stumped or feel the need for inspiration. I just look up and read it a few times.

After I read this quotation through a few times and digest it’s message yet once again, I start back to work with renewed vigor. I know that this day or the next I will overcome whatever it is that I am dealing with at the time.

Make sure that you surround yourself with powerful triggers that move you personally. It works.

Here’s a good one about fear:

“You can conquer almost any fear if you will make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except in the mind.” – Dale Carnegie

Is there something you have avoided doing because you have some fear or nervousness? Get books on the subject, with knowledge sometimes fears dissipate. As Dale Carnegie says, the fears exist only in our mind. And we can control what we think about.
