Is one of your goals to start your own business from home? Starting a home business will require you to set up a home office. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

Many people start their home business from their kitchen table. But you will need a space to work.

Here are some of the basic things you’ll need:

A Computer
This is an obvious requirement. You can’t conduct business without one!

High Speed Internet
Don’t try to get away with dial up! You’ll want to get DSL or cable internet. In many cases, you’ll need to send files of information back and forth to clients and a slow internet connection will make the process quite painful.

Office Software
Many of your clients will be using Microsoft Office, so investing in that software is a good idea. You may already have it on your computer.

If you do not, and you cannot afford to buy it, try using Open Office or Google Docs. Both of these are free.

Depending on the type of business you choose, you may need additional software. For example, a graphic designer will need photo editing software. Before you decide on a specialty business, make sure you can afford the software.

Printer
It isn’t mandatory to have a printer, but you may want one in order to print out contracts and other items.

Phone
How much you use a phone will depend on the type of business you choose. If you are in direct sales, you will be spending a lot of time on the phone.

If your business requires you to have a phone, you may want to consider having a dedicated phone line, just for business purposes. You don’t want your clients to be bothered by a busy signal or lose any messages if your children accidentally delete them.

Fax Service
Again, this isn’t mandatory for all businesses, but if you are going to be sending faxes back and forth, it’s a good idea to have fax service.

If you’re on a budget you can receive faxes for free by using a service such as eFax (www.efax.com). You can send outgoing faxes through your local office supply store for a nominal fee.

This is just a bare minimum of equipment to get started in your very own home business. You can expand from here as you start making profits.

Are You Getting Enough Fiber With Your Present Diet?

High Fiber Diet Benefits

A diet high in fiber foods is tremendously important for many reasons. Adequate amounts of fiber are essential to good health, in that it keeps your digestive system working smoothly, helps elimination from the body and most of them are rich in vitamins and nutrients.

A study conducted at the Harvard School of Medicine found that men who consumed 30 grams of fiber a day were half as likely to develop precancerous colon changes as men whose daily fiber intake was 12 grams or lower.

Scientists are not exactly sure why fiber can help reduce the risks of colon cancer but it is thought that insoluble fiber adds bulk to stools, which helps speed their transit through the intestines, leaving less time for carcinogenic changes.

Other studies have shown that good levels of fiber can also help against breast cancer, heart disease, digestive disorders, diabetes and obesity. If you suffer from constipation, increasing your fiber content should help. It also helps to drink adequate amounts of water daily to help the fiber through your system.

An increased amount of fiber can also help you feel fuller faster and longer, which is important if you’re watching your weight.

An easy way to start the day with an adequate amount of fiber is to have a fiber-rich breakfast of cereal and fruit. Vegetables and fruits are very high in both soluble and insoluble fibers and also many other important nutrients. They are what you might call “nutrient dense”.

Many people eat breads and cereals types which are very low in fiber. Even some brown bread varieties only have a small amount, so it’s best to check your package labels and make sure you’re getting a natural whole grain product with sufficient fiber. Find ways to consume more fiber every day.

Now that you know some of the benefits of adding fiber to your diet, here are some quick tips to help you increase your fiber intake:

Tips To Increase Your Fiber Intake

Eat vegetables with every meal, and add more raw veggies into your diet.

Switch from processed carbohydrates such as white bread and pasta to whole grains (these are higher in fiber and nutrients).

Add some high fiber grains, nuts, or fruit to your cereals, and add some vegetables like sprouts, lettuce, spinach, or avocado onto your sandwiches.

Add beans to casseroles, chili or many other foods. Beans are an especially good source of fiber.

Snack on fruits and vegetables with their skin on when possible. The skin and the immediate area under it is where a lot of the ‘goodness’ lies. If you peel it some of the fiber and precious nutrients are lost.

Fruits like grapes and berries are particularly high in fiber and apples and pears for example should be eaten with the peel on also.

Eat dried fruits such as raisins, prunes, figs, and apricots. These are easy to sprinkle on cereal or add to homemade muffins. The varieties are virtually endless.

There are some great prepackaged trail mixes available today in most groceriy stores and they are very convenient to take with you and snack on during the day. You can use the bulk food bins to mix up some of your own dried fruit and nut favorites.

A psyllium supplement can easily boost your fiber intake and help you take advantage of no added calories. You can get the bags of bulk psyllium or capsules if you prefer. It is an inexpensive way to get more fiber and very convenient. I take psyllium supplements daily to ensure that I get enough roughage into my diet.

Some cereals produced today have psyllium added to increase their fiber content. There are many more ways to add more fiber into your diet and they will support you well on your journey to making healthy lifestyle choices and creating abundant energy supplies to greet each day.

Identify Your Most Important Goals – Take The Time Necessary

Do you find yourself rushing through life, never quite getting the satisfaction from work and personal relationships that you crave? Do your goals seem meaningless when you achieve them?

Many people eventually experience these feelings of dissatisfaction sometime in their life. What can you do to find the satisfaction and happiness in your life that you really are expecting?

Take the time out from your busy life to sit back and examine what’s missing. Identify your goals and what you need for success in your life. Are you conflicted about your goals? Are they really your goals?

Although it can sometimes be difficult, going through this process is an key step in creating the most vibrant and authentic life you can live.

So what do you need to get started to identify and realize your most important goals?

First of all, you need a good healthy dose of motivation. The reasons why you are doing what you are doing.

What it is you absolutely desire for your life? Do you wish you could live a healthier life? Do you seek a more fulfilling professional career? Do you want to develop more passionate relationships? Why do you want these things?

Consider your instincts. What is it you have always been naturally attracted to in life? Where does your instinct take you?

Your beliefs are critical in getting what you want. You MUST believe you can do it. What do you believe you are capable of doing? A good healthy self image and self esteem is necessary to cultivate belief. What do you believe is important in your life? Do you believe you deserve to have it?

Motivation also has a lot to do with your core values. What do you see as valuable in your life? Is your family your number one concern? Do you place a lot of value on living a healthy life? Do you value a career that gives you autonomy, financial stability, or the ability to travel?

Whatever type of goals you decide to pursue, they must be related to the things you value or they will be empty and meaningless when you get there. Don’t let this happen to you.

In order to brainstorm for ideas, sit down with a pad and pen and go over all of these things. At the top of the paper, label it ‘Motivation.’

Make different categories labeled desire, instinct, beliefs, and values.

In the desire category, write down the things you’d like to accomplish. Be as specific as possible. If your goal is to lose weight, write down something like “Lose 25 pounds by June 1st.” Writing down “Lose weight” is too broad.

In the column labeled instinct, write down what your instinct is when it comes to your desires. Do you tend to back away from your desires out of fear? Are you conflicted or congruent? Is your instinct to view your desires in a negative or positive light? Positive expectations will bring the results you want.

Next, in the column labeled beliefs, write about what you believe about your desires. Do you see them as good honest desires? Do you think they are achievable? Do you believe that you deserve them? Be as honest with yourself as possible.

Finally, in the column labeled values, write down what you assign value to in your life. What are the most important things for you, both on a personal and professional level?

Once you have gone over the desires, instincts, beliefs, and values related to your motivation, you would be better able to gauge how realistic your goals really are. Putting these things down on paper makes your goals more real.

You will be able to see how motivated you are about setting and achieving goals. Does it look like your values or instincts conflict with your desires?

You will begin to get a clear idea of the difficulties you face in realizing your goals. Knowing what can prevent you from achieving your goals is critical so you can plan workaround solutions. You need to be congruent and without internal conflicts if you want to achieve your goals.

Finally, now that you have worked on identifying honestly your core desires, instincts, beliefs, and values, you are ready to set goals for yourself that can be realistically achieved and valued. This will help you create a life of significance.

Create goals for yourself that mesh well with what you have identified as most important to you and you will happily achieve instead of achieve to be happy.

Decide how you personally measure success. Is success for you just simply working on your goal, or will you not be satisfied until you have achieved a certain outcome?

This makes a major difference in your life journey.

Which of your motivating factors can you work with and increase your urgency to achieve your goal? If you find your instincts appear to conflict with your desires, work on changing these attitudes or behaviors so that you can open up your path to success and happiness as it relates to you.

Goals With Deadlines Are Important

Five Reasons Goals Need Deadlines

We set goals all the time. Sometimes those goals result in less than satisfactory outcomes.

Have you ever wondered why that is? I sure have.

One explanation could be because the goals have been left open-ended. Not giving our objective a target to completion leads to unfulfilled aspirations and ambitions.

Here are the five reasons that goals need deadlines. This is not all inclusive, there are lesser important reasons also, but focus on implementing these and you will be effective.

1.    Deadlines avoid procrastination. What is the first thing you think about when there is something to do? Do you try to find a way to put it off? Many people do exactly that all the time. The car is making a funny noise but it still runs so you put off getting it looked at by a mechanic. Then, one day it doesn’t run and the need is immediate. Without a deadline, the achievement of a goal can drag on forever.

2.   Deadlines hold you accountable. Every goal needs a way that it can be tracked or measured. When there is a set time or due date for your goals, it’s easier to plan how you will actually achieve it. Setting several deadlines for small goals within a larger goal increases your chances of success. Also, others can help you stay on track when there is a deadline.

3.    Deadlines help us visualize our goals. Everything that begins must have an ending. It may be close at hand or in the distant future. Either way, a conclusion is coming. The same is true with goals. Let’s say that you are running a race. In the middle, you get winded and your legs start to hurt. If the length of the race was unknown you might be tempted to quit. Knowing that the finish line will finally come into view, you push on to make it to the end.

4.    Deadlines turn a dream into a reality. When the idea of a goal is formed in our head, it can easily be pushed away and forgotten. No one knew about it but us and that’s how it will remain. Now that we have assigned a deadline to our “dream” it has become a goal. To remember the deadline, our goal gets written down somewhere so we can see it every day.

5.    Deadlines encourage us to focus on our goals. We’ve established that without deadlines it’s all too easy to procrastinate. Having a deadline encourages us to get it into gear and start working on our goal. When we know we must have something done by a certain time, it can be motivating, especially if someone else is also watching our progress.

Goals need deadlines. Without them, there is no way to tell if we are getting closer to achieving our goal.

Goals will never reach their full potential of greatness if we don’t map out a plan to get there, and give ourselves proper time deadlines for achieving them, so deadline those Goals and Go For It!.
