I was again reminded today of how our habits can make or break us in our goals journey. I came across a quote that I read, wrote down and saved at a time when I had really needed to change a few habits.
I had developed some that were to say the least not very constructive or empowering. I thought that I could share this quote with you even though I never knew who had originally written it.
I hope you keep it in mind when you start developing any habit. Ask yourself this, “Is this bringing me closer to my goals, or further away?” Anyway, Here it is:
“I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden. I will push you onward and upward, or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command.
Ninety percent of the things you do might just as well be turned over to me, and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly. I am easily managed, show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great people and alas! of all failures as well. I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine, plus the intelligence of a man.
You can run me for profit or run me for ruin – it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I? I am Habit.”
